The Cobbler’s Children Have No Shoes

Like the proverbial cobbler who is so busy providing for his customers that his own children go without shoes, I have been so focused on counseling clients, completing my schooling, and helping others manage their gastroparesis, that I temporarily lost track of managing my own.  Predictably, it caught up with me.

My clients are doing fabulously.  They’re making great strides with their diets, reducing their symptoms, and coping better with the physical and emotion stress of living with GP.   At the same time, I’ve been working too much, not relaxing enough, eating irregularly, forgoing my food journal, and, worst of all, not taking the time to stop and address these imbalances.  So it’s no surprise that I’m smack dab in the middle of another gastroparesis flare-up.

I’ve also been sitting on some new information that is likely to be really beneficial to me, my clients, and many of you who read my blog.  Yet I haven’t given my mind a chance to fully absorb and process the information, nor have I begun experimenting with it myself, which means it isn’t helping anyone at the moment.

So with all of that in mind, it’s time to take a few days to focus on fine-tuning and re-implementing my own gastroparesis management plan.  If you’ve been neglecting your own needs, I encourage you to do to the same.   After all, we’re most effective at helping others when we feel good ourselves!

Awwww no fair! You left us with a cliff hanger! Do you have a feed I can subscribe to? Don’t see one on this page, but will search deeper.

You are so right… we tend to do for others, but forget ourselves, which only hurts us AND the ones we are caring for. You need to watch out for yourself and get back on track with your gp…. but I know how it is…. and I’m one of those ppl who sometimes gets SO MAD at GP that I purposely eat something that I know will hurt….

Hang in there! No flair-ups allowed!

I did, didn’t I?! ;) Well, I’ll be blogging quite a bit over the next two weeks, finally sharing all of the info that I hinted at in this post.

As for the feed, I just added a subscription button to the top of the blog page. Thanks for the suggestion!

[...] dispense this advice to my clients.  Yet, for some reason, I haven’t been walking my talk.  Since March, I’ve been pushing myself too hard, not getting enough rest and not having nearly enough fun. [...]
