Share: Pick-Me-Ups
It doesn’t matter how positive you are or how good your outlook on life is, from time to time the frustration of living day-in and day-out with gastroparesis gets the better of us all. I think that’s natural and to be expected, but the key is not to wallow in it for too long.
For me, listening to music is almost guaranteed to pull me out of a slump. I put on my headphones, close the door, and sing along (loudly!). Here are a few of my favorites for rough days:
If You’re Going Through Hell – Rodney Atkins
I’m Alive – Kenny Chesney & Dave Matthews
Stand Back Up – Sugarland
Stand – Rascal Flatts
Anyway – Martina McBride
What do you do to pick yourself up when you’re having a particularly bad day? Please share!

I’ll agree with you on Stand, it picks me up too!
Two great responses from Twitter:
- Backrubs (I agree!)
- “Counting my blessings helps me get through a rough day. Also, nice smelling essential oils/fragrances.”
I find that music really helps me as well, especially if I’m in a lot of pain. I sing really loud to the Beatles : ) Sometimes it helps to just get my mind of it, if its not too bad… Yoga helps too. There are actually certain poses that are supposed to help aid digestion!
